My Breast Cancer Support, a local nonprofit dedicated to easing the financial and emotional burdens of breast cancer, proudly marks its 20th year of serving patients and families on the seacoast of New Hampshire and in southern Maine.
Since its founding by local breast cancer survivor, Wendy McCoole, My Breast Cancer Support has provided more than $1.44 million in direct financial support to local individuals and families battling breast cancer. The organization’s impactful programs include the distribution of thousands of New Patient Bags—filled with comfort items and valuable resources—and over $225,000 in Hope Chest gift cards, helping patients manage everyday expenses so they can focus on healing and recovery. They also offer a private support group for local patients and survivors.
“Our mission has always been to ensure that no one faces breast cancer alone,” said Jennie Halstead, Executive Director of My Breast Cancer Support. “This milestone is a testament to the strength of our community and the generosity of the individuals and businesses that have supported us over the years.”
As the organization looks to the future, community involvement remains critical. Supporters are encouraged to become recurring donors (be a part of their $20/week for their 20 years of support effort!), sponsor upcoming events, set up fundraisers, or advocate for the nonprofit’s mission.
To commemorate its 20 years supporting local community members affected by breast cancer, My Breast Cancer Support invites the community to attend two upcoming signature events:
